How we work

We believe in a process, not a template

Our greatest asset is our ability to develop and establish lasting relationships based on mutual trust, collaboration and effective communication.

Many of our client partner relationships have endured over a decade and we continue to grow together.

Ongoing engagement by key players that move to other companies is testament to the level of service and delivery we consistently provide.

All projects have appointed site manager/foreman and project management with an agreed hierarchy of responsibility. These specialists remain with the project for its duration, managing the operational delivery.

These professionals are the link between design team, client and project delivery. They work closely with the design team, cost manager and contracts manager in providing feedback, amending project pathways and managing change and cost.

In brief they drive progress, trouble shoot issues, manage the integration of specialists, control quality and ensure the site is safe, toward unproblematic completion.

Most importantly we pride ourselves on the ability of our project managers to make things happen.

Health and safety

The health and safety of our staff, clients and those affected by our operations is our prime consideration.

Committed investment ensures we achieve high safety standards; we have two Nebosh trained members of the team and a dedicated health and safety officer.

The ISO 9001.2015 Quality Management Systems accreditation certifies well documented systems, systemized processes and effective standard operating procedures. The associated management systems manual is independently assessed biannually.

Our independent assessment accreditations include Constructionline Silver, Chas Silver, Alcumus Safe Contractor and SSIP Acclaimation.

Projects are routinely positively inspected on site by independent client health and safety assessors, our systems, competence and compliance is assessed by Safe Systems in Procurement and we maintain a multi layered internal vetting procedure to ensure the ongoing improvement of our safe systems of work.

Giles Davies carefully consider the impact of our operations on the community and the immediate and wider environment and understand our global responsibility.

Environmental

All of our working practices are compliant with legislative standards as a minimum, but more than that, we are committed to continuous improvement throughout all of our practices and product usage in minimising the use of energy, effective waste management and reducing the emission of carbon dioxide.

The ability to effectively implement and continually improve our environmental performance through an environmental management system is recognised by ISO 14001.2015.

There is a group commitment to minimise environmental and social harm and to have a positive impact on the environment and communities in which we operate.

Corporate social responsibility

Social and environmental issues are considered in all of our business operations and collaborate with our clients to manage our economic, social and environmental impact.

People are our most valuable asset. Always ensuring engagement is ethical and without bias, treating people fairly and equitably and providing routes for progression generates strong long term relationships.

Our organisational and operational impact on our communities and the support we can provide with employment locally and nationally is well recognised within our group.

We acknowledge the philanthropic benefit of giving back and are long term investors in grass roots community sport.

Governance

Our Board of Directors are from different backgrounds with diverse characters and bring different specialist skill sets to the team. They are committed to driving continued professional and operational improvement.

The administration of the organization is managed via a tight system of internal audit controls and reporting which is verified by external accountants, ISO and our banking providers. Our accounting methods are electronic, accurate, audited and transparent.

Our detailed policies, systemization, agreed standard operating procedures and systems of internal monitoring ensure we are continually improving, that we identify issues, implement risk controls and meet the relevant levels of compliance and standards.

As a business we are cyber secure and are cyber essentials certified.

Close relationships, better places

There are times when specific project needs mean we have to bring in one of our trusted partners. This could be due to the size of the project, the timeline, the delivery method, specialist skills, or unique craftsmanship. Whatever the reason, the key is to keep the team focused and collaborative.
